“What is SCRIP?”
Traditional SCRIP consists of gift certificates and gift cards for popular stores, restaurants and retail establishments.
“Why should I buy it?”
This is a fundrasing effort that everyone can participate in and it doesn't cost YOU anything extra. Why? If you buy $100 worth of SCRIP from us, you get to spend that exact same $100 at the store, restaurant, or retail establishment. Your additional cost of buying and using SCRIP is zero. At the same time, the Booster Club makes money!
“How does SCRIP make money for the school?”
Retailers, restaurants, and grocery stores (like Gelson’s, Smart & Final, and Whole Foods) sell SCRIP to the Westwood Booster Club at less than face value. The Booster Club profits by selling this SCRIP to the community at full face value. We make money on this difference between what we pay for SCRIP and what we sell it for.
“How much of my purchase price goes to the school?”
We make 3% to 5% profit ($3-$5 profit for every $100) from grocery store SCRIP. Other merchants offer their SCRIP at profit rates that vary from as little as 2% of the purchase price to as much as 20%.
“Where and When can I buy Scrip?”
Parent volunteers from the Westwood Booster Club sell SCRIP in front of
school on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings, and on Monday afternoons.
e-Scrip (as opposed to "SCRIP") is a related fundraising program that has generated more than $20 million for schools and youth organizations nationwide.
Go to www.escrip.com and reference Westwood Booster Club's group I.D. #136559363. This is a secure site where you can register your Vons and Pavilions grocery
club cards, your Macy's card, and your major credit cards. Westwood Booster
Club makes money each time you shop with e-Scrip merchant partners.
Participating merchants include American Airines, Baja Fresh, Bristol
Farms, Dream Dinners, Macy's, Office Max, Pavilions, Pep Boys, and Vons.
e-Scrip pays at a lower profit rate than most gift certificate and gift card
Scrip, but it is so very easy to use. Once you are registered with e-Scrip,
you'll automatically be making a contribution to our school each time you
use your registered cards at participating merchants.
“What kind of places use SCRIP?”
Many of the places you shop at frequently accept SCRIP! To see a current list of available SCRIP, please click on the BESTSELLING SCRIP LIST here or at the top of this page. The bestsellers list will be updated from time to time.
"What about Ralph's Scrip?"
If you shop at Ralph's, you can earn money for Westwood Charter by registering your Ralph's Club Card. Simply go to www.Ralphs.com, click on Community Contribution, then click on Participant, and enter your information and our NPO #80592. This is a secure site, and you won't receive any solicitations or junk email as a result of signing up. If you don't have internet access, please call 1-800-443-4438 to sign up.
