S.T.A.R. Program
Westwood Charter School is fortunate to have a safe, caring, and age-appropriate S.T.A.R. childcare program on site. The children participating in S.T.A.R. are clustered by grade level and are provided with a variety of age-appropriate activities including arts and crafts, day trips, music, and reading, as well as other indoor and outdoor activities. The children in S.T.A.R. have access to both our supervised playground and the well-maintained S.T.A.R. bungalow.
S.T.A.R. also provides a supervised Homework Room where children can complete their homework before participating in after-school activities.
Children in the S.T.A.R. program have an opportunity to make new friends and learn new skills. Parents who enroll their children in S.T.A.R. feel confident that their children are receiving quality childcare benefits in a safe and caring environment.
Hours
7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. year round

Enrichment Classes
In addition, after-school enrichment classes are available through the S.T.A.R. Program. For a nominal fee, children can learn and enjoy ceramics, art, science, dancing, cooking, piano, drama and much more!
There are four enrichment sessions per year.
Kids Plus
Westwood S.T.A.R Kids Plus Program is available to all children, Grades K-5, enrolled at Westwood Charter School. The program includes staff-organized play, supervised homework, and a choice of specialty classes. Children may choose from programs that include: Slam n' Jam Def Poetry, Dance, Spanish Academy, Hooks and Yarn, Mixed Media Art, Yoga on the Lawn, Theater and Get Fit.
Cost varies based on the number of days enrolled (2-day minimum). STAR offers sliding scale scholarships to meet the needs of every family.
Hours:
Every school day from class dismissal to 6:00 p.m.
Before school programs are also offered
Minimum 2 days per week
Supervised Playground
Through the Beyond the Bell branch of the Los Angeles Unified School District, Westwood Charter School also offers a free after-school supervised playground program for students in grades 3-5.

Every school day from 2:45 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
